One of my favorite bloggers – The Everywhereist – recently shared her insights gained after writing 1000 posts (!). One that stuck with me had a lot to do with letting go of perfectionism and sometimes just hitting ‘publish’.
…she also mentioned something about being consistent with your blogging, sticking to a schedule, etc. etc….
(Please see here and here for just two of many examples of just how timely my blogging style is…it’s a wonder I made it to 100!)
Ahem.
So I’m going for the easy one: just hitting publish.
Even when I don’t like how it sounds.
Even when I’m lost in my own story.
Even when I fret that the post isn’t what I intended it to be (am I EVER going to finish blogging about Japan?).
Sigh…
Then it dawns on me in a sort of Everywhereist-ian epiphany: I never HAVE to be done.
That is, after all, the beauty of travel – it all sticks with you.
The memories, the events, the roads taken (and not). The food, the smells, the sights. The feelings that are easy to recall and the ones that have been challenging to put into words from the moment they were felt.
Feelings. Lots of them.
Click. Publish.

Agree … there are times I start a writing and end up in a complete tangent. I have learned that’s just how my mind works and write what I know. Just keep hitting publish!
Glad to see you are writing again. Love reading your posts.
